Yay to Mom for doing the right thing.

Also, why is any woman not carrying a cross body purse in 2021?

Good for mom.
Too many of them make excuses for their progeny.

Momma might have figured that if he wasn’t held to account now he’d do things even worse and then pay far more.

He was already in jail in connection with a car jacking involving a woman and her young child. I’m betting he will soon be back on the street thanks to a local Soros funded DA. Another young person of color age 17 was recently apprehended in another Minneapolis suburb for stealing a car which he totaled while fleeing from police and severely damaging two police cars. He was found in possession of an illegal handgun. The local DA gave this fine upstanding youth 15 days of house arrest with an ankle monitor. I can soon see armed vigilantes administering swift harsh justice because the criminal justice system cannot protect citizens

...the criminal justice system cannot protect citizens

The criminal justice system isn't supposed to "protect" citizens.
The criminal justice system is supposed to prosecute and punish criminals.
I understand what you're thinking. By holding someone
you "protect" society/citizens.

Is the criminal justice system following the law?
If the law says "Release them." the criminal will be released.
The law is what is supposed to "protect" people by bringing criminals to Justice.
Who is responsible for the law and the inversion/perversion of it?

Ultimately, as you probably already know, citizens are
primarily responsible for their own protection.
That's one reason why we have the 2nd Amendment.
Which, by default, means that sometimes
you don't need a criminal justice system at all.

An aside...
I can soon see armed vigilantes administering swift harsh justice because
the criminal justice system cannot protect citizens

I can soon see armed citizens administering swift harsh justice because
the criminal justice system cannot protect citizens.

What a difference one word can make.

JMO, YMMV
