So riddle me this. If it’s a fact that as the sun declines/ages it gets hotter and hotter, bigger and bigger, do we even have any control whatsoever in the temperature of the earth? I say it doesn’t matter at all the amount of so called climate change regulations enacted. The earth will continue to warm. In a billion years or so the planet will be baked anyhow. According to scientists.
I suspect we will exterminate ourselves long before we’re technologically able to leave this planet for another life sustaining one, should there be one at all.

____

You are right, but things are lot more complicated. Sun has several cycles, and Earth orbit has several cycles. The cycles add and subtract. Lot of different influence.
Earth itself is slowly cooling as it is slowly loosing its radioactive materials.
And then the atmosphere, water, clouds etc.
Finally the albedo, the Earth radiation to space, ...
For you all global warming enthusiastic, the Stefan-Boltzmann law gives the Earth to space radiation as a function of Temperature to the power of FOUR (4)! That’s a mighty feedback to any really extreme global climate (plus or minus) changes!
