An interim chancellor has been chosen to lead the State University of New York system when embattled Jim Malatras leaves the job next month. The SUNY board of trustees Monday announced SUNY Oswego President Deborah Stanley has been appointed to the post effective January 15.

Article didn’t explain the “embattled” part. DO you know?
As to DOCTOR Stanley, she is a Jill Biden type of doctor, isn’t she? (Along with her Juris Doctorate)
She is a JD, and an extremely competent individual.

Dear Commons Community, Jim Malatras, the chancellor of the State University of New York, submitted his resignation yesterday following intense political pressure for him to step down over text messages that showed him belittling one of the women who had accused former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of sexual harassment.”
He was trying to help his pal Cuomo by trashing one of the women who accused Cuomo of harassment. HOWEVER, now I find searches that Malatras was pressured to step down because he “helped” Cuomo write his self-aggrandizing book about being the super hero of covid. So, I don’t know if the real reason is being “erased” and replaced - or if this is in addition to. I suspect it’s a erase and replace with something less nasty and mean.
“Dr. Stanley is an attorney by trade and has done a marvelous job at Oswego State, this is a great choice to straighten out SUNY.”
Tell us more about the marvelous job. I am aware of the Shineman Center development but is there more from her decades as president of SUNY at O? Thanks in advance for any elaboration.
