The Catholic Church added it so they could prove their interpretation of purgatory is Biblical

That is incorrect. It has been accepted as inspired by Christians from the earliest days of the Church and appears on lists of the canonical books since the 4th century. The Orthodox Churches do not teach purgatory and Maccabees is in their canon. Martin Luther took it upon himself in the 16th century to remove seven Old Testament books from his translation (Maccabees among them) because they disagreed with his novel doctrines.

You are wrong .

The Cannon closed without those books. You can defend the Catholic Church all you want. But do not change the facts to fit your mantra.

Luther only removed them because they were not canonical, and they were not because the cannon closed without them ever being added.

You do jot have the right to change history just to fit your faith.
