There are people who will believe anything if it’s on social media.

Which is why we are in such a mess.

>>My guess is you don’t know much about commercial farming.

If the OP gets his news from tik-tok my guess is he doesn’t know much about anything.

Luckily the county paved the dirt road I was living on shortly afterwards. Dirt roads w/o oiling are really dusty on dry days.

To: chuckles; Diana in Wisconsin

Diana has her finger on the farmer’s pulse.

Maybe she can answer that.

I’ve worked 50 years draining farmers fields

This never happens

Only way is if they get subsided by the feds for idling the acreage

Farmers grow crops. And they love $7.00+ corn

Well, FDR did it during the Great Depression. (FDR made the Depression longer and worse because of crap like this):

From the net:

Culling the herd isn’t new to America. In Burton W. Folsom’s book “New Deal or Raw Deal? How FDR’s Economic Legacy Has Damaged America,” the retired professor of history at Hillsdale College brings to light some of the darker aspects of the New Deal.

During the Great Depression, the cost of livestock and crops were so low that Franklin D. Roosevelt, as a part of his New Deal, introduced the Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA). This legislation paid farmers to kill millions of hogs and cows and plow under over 10 million acres of cotton to artificially inflate prices. Unfortunately, this occurred as millions of Americans were going hungry.

This tactic was widely scrutinized and criticized. It was difficult for farmers to reconcile, having worked hard to raise animals and cultivate crops to feed their communities and the rest of the country. In the end, Americans had to pay a higher price for goods and the U.S. ended up importing tens of millions of pounds of crops that they were paying farmers not to produce.

The people on the video’s were farmers and they seem to think it was unusual. They are predicting food shortages this winter.

It wouldn't surprise me if the dems were doing it to cause shortages.

I don't trust them in the least and have doubt at all they would deliberately do something to force people to go hungry and cause inflation.

They have an incredible bloodlust for suffering and death and would inflict either on us without a second thought, if it served their best interests, which is money, control, and power.

They've been oiling roads since before I was born. Usually dirt and gravel roads.

I've seen roads maintained that way in CNY.

The federal government: destroying crops since the 1930s (Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA).

Back in the 80s I remember my grandparents getting a check every year for not growing tobacco on property in NC that they hadn’t farmed for 30 years.

Happens all the time. Big AG and fedgov are insane and interlocked. FedGov(TAXPAYERS) pays farmers to grow a certain crop and if it ends up not being needed, they tell them to just burn it.

Sorry, we don’t need any more ethanol corn this year but we(TAXPAYERS) will still pay you for it.

I was searching for some images from the 1930’s of the culling. It also showed crops and stuff destroyed last year due to the pandemic. But that wasn’t forced on the farmers by the government. Farmers that sold primarily to restaurants lost their market and had to dump stuff until they could adjust.

I recall the stories of milk that used to be sold to restaurants in bulk had to be destroyed as there weren’t any small containers to sell to grocery stores. Plus set up new contracts, etc. That all takes time. I’m guessing they got that sorted out though.

I farmed for ten years. I never knew of any program paying to destroy crops. CRP plans pay you to take acreage out of production and you are not allowed to plant or graze it. Every farm has a plan for crop rotation and certain acreage is locked in on beans, corn, wheat, alfalfa, etc.... and some in CRP.

So they pay you to not plant crops, but not to destroy them.

Gov pays farmers to not plant on some of their land... leave land idle.. A friend said it would not work out well to have the land and not plant for food.

Always a few ‘farmers’ on threads like this here and on other forums. GMO is good. No, fedgov doesn’t pay us to do nothing or worse.
