I hope for better things than that.

“I thought mid 19th century small arms did not have the velocity of current weapons. It seems like it would be hard to kill one person and wound another with the same bullet.”

A standard lead 45 Colt round would easily sail through a skinny Hollywood girl and right into the next person. When the army accepted that Colt and it’s round, it was intended to hit and bring down a horse from 100 yards. That was literally the standard.

The Rookie has announced they’ll only use airsoft guns going forward. I do know that some (many?) productions add muzzle flash and other effects in digitally. It often looks fake though.

maybe there was magical metamorphosis going on that we are unaware of. Like lead turning to gold, etc.

I think Alec was involved with the victim. He did NOT follow ANY of the rules....

I have no problem with the armorer.

“not needed”

No argument here.

But by the time these liberals get through this mess there will be major changes made. I would not be surprised if real guns and ammo are banned from most major sets with CGI filling in the gap.

They may even go further and ban anything that even looks like a weapon including fake guns. Sounds absolutely crazy but I would not be surprised.

If that's what happened, then someone should be charged with manslaughter.

This was a low budget production so they're playing the price in future lawsuits.

Sounds about right. And I think guns in westerns face way more audience scrutiny overall. So that combined with no mods needed to run them on blanks means they use a lot of real ones in that genre. The old five in one blank was used in almost every western ever seen. Run through real guns. Not as easy with semi-autos.

The problem isnt gun control (to use a horrible term), it was ammunition control and education.

While working at Ruger we had guns all over the place. Ammo, however was strictly controlled and locked up. Education provided a culture of NOT LIVE ROUNDS ANYWHERE except the ranges with entrance and exit checks by two employees. Guards at employee entrances screening with metal detectors incoming and exiting employees.

However, I thought mid 19th century small arms did not have the velocity of current weapons. It seems like it would be hard to kill one person and wound another with the same bullet. I am suspicious of that story.

A few notes:
-Mid 19th century arms, especially a .44, have lethality equal to or greater than current sidearms.
--The firearm was likely a modern recreation firearm such as those made by Uberti or Cimmaron, not a historical piece. Such firearms, for safety reasons, can handle the pressures of modern ammunition.
-Multiple credible reports cite the shot as a "through and through" where the single round passed through Halyna Hutchin's lower torso, missing bone, and struck Joel Souza, who was behind her, in the clavicle.

Interesting interview with John Schneider (Dukes of Hazzard) on NewsMaxTV. He is 2nd amendment supporter and shares his experiences using prop guns and real guns on TV/ movie sets.

Even though he’s a liberal gun-control douchebag I still feel bad for the guy.

Save it for someone who deserves it.

Fully agree with you. There -will- be a raft of new rules and changes. That relieves them of needing for someone to be prosecuted.
