What’s the reference to Catholicism for?
A number of these Caribbean religions will use Catholic symbolism, imagery and some of the language to make a claim as a legitimate religion, and the one most identified with Christianity in many Caribbean nations.
The real voodoo types also use it as a cover for their activity (Santeria, especially).
