Don’t overestimate Trump’s Republican dominance this far in advance of 2024
NY Post | National Review ^ | October 22, 2021 | Rich Lowry

Posted on 10/23/2021 2:59:44 PM PDT by conservative98

there are reasons to believe Trump’s dominance is exaggerated and that it is slowly degrading, such that by the time the 2024 Republican primaries roll around, he’ll be challengeable and beatable if he runs.

[cut]

Trump’s media footprint is much reduced. Data from SocialFlow shows engagement with Trump stories plummeting in March of this year and it took another jag down in August and September.

As for Trump’s polling numbers, Republicans might tell pollsters they want him to run again as a way to stick a finger in the eye of the media or as a general statement of warm feelings toward him. Even if these findings are based on entirely forthcoming and sincere sentiments, wanting Trump to run is a threshold question that falls short of a commitment to vote for him 2½ years from now.

Trump presumably will be vulnerable to electability questions. He lost last fall in part because Joe Biden outperformed Hillary Clinton among suburban voters and independents. Biden is alienating these voters, but there’s nothing to indicate that Trump has done anything since November 2020 to make himself less repellent to them.

[cut]

At the end of the day, what primary voters in both parties most want is to win. And this is Trump’s true Achilles’ heel. The fact is that he lost to Joe Biden, and, despite last-minute changes in election procedures and the media and social media landscape being stacked again him, it was fundamentally his doing.

His chief vulnerability is that, eventually, someone will put this to him directly, and it will land.

We need to get Trump out of the picture so we can elect true conservatives like oh Kinzinger or RINO Ryan or Jeb or some clown like that. Hey NR. Let’s go Brandon.

President Trump does not have a grip on the GOP.

He does, however, have a stranglehold on good, decent conservative Americans.

Lowry makes some valid points. But as a Never Trumper from way back it smacks too much as wishful thinking .— Mitch (@mitchinam) October 22, 2021

Must be fundraising time for phony “conservative” @RichLowry and the Never Trump clowns at @NRO… I’m glad I got off their fundraising list. National Review Ideas summit - now there’s an oxymoron for you. The place hasn’t had an idea since the last time WFB drew a breath in this life.

Republicans need to get some influence on Secretary of States in various swing states. Apparently they can allow or block election fraud without consequences.

Media keeps trying to condition public view into thinking Trump is 2024.

No.

Trump is not 2024.
Trump is now and each day.

You can’t fix a rigged voting system by voting.

There are four ways to fix 2020:
1. Devolution
2. Quo Warranto
3. Decertification
4. Revolution

#4 is the only recourse to save the Constitution in case the first three fail.

Make no mistake this is a Marxist takedown of the United States in action. Should the nation approach #4 above, expect Marxists behind the Biden WH to concoct a hot war just as the CCP is preparing to do with Taiwan.

It’s part of the Marxist playbook to start wars to put down counter-revolutionaries who are us, the American people in #4 above.

The national review really stinks nowadays.
If they think we would vote or support a GOP-e sell- out pussywillow candidate, they’re nuts

HEAR HEAR!

Rich fails to appreciate that fact. The ignorant goose has
never understood the American people; being so much a part of the ‘elite’ and all.

Rich Lowry?

They couldn’t get Bill Kristol, Jennifer Rubin, David Brooks, George Will or David Frum to write this piece?

In these types of pieces, a theoretical alternative would be named, say Pence or Romney or Liz Cheney for all I care. None of them are papabile and even Lowry knows that he has NOBODY.

DeSantis has made it clear that he will NOT challenge Trump, and the Rich Lowries don’t want him anyway. They want a pliable Mike DeWine type.

I love Trump and I love DeSantis and they both were/are/would be excellent presidents. However DeSantis unfortunately is too short. Short men do not win the presidency, historically.
