In any truly civilized country this murderer would immediately be tried, convicted, sentenced to death and publicly hanged all within a week or two of his apprehension. No consideration of “motive” and no consideration of mental illness would be permitted at trial. And neither the verdict nor the sentence would be subject to appeal.
