Ah, but we were all there when the cops pulled over Gabby's van in Moab.
Multiple police body cams were running when LEO first approach to the vehicle through the chummy Brian Laundry and cop fist bump at the hotel where Brian stayed. We even got to hear the cop telling Brian how much better his quality of life became after his own wife was medicated for anxiety. Watch the videos.
“Well if they had a credible report that she was slapping him then they should have arrested her. She might still be alive.”
They had a 911 call that he had been hitting her.
“how many calls did Gabby’s parents make to them?......”
Many calls and texts starting in August. None were picked up or acknowledged.

They gave him the free room leaving Gabby alone on the road with a van she told them she was not familiar driving!

Was the witness present on the scene when police arrived?
Again, I believe he was hitting her.
The cops looked at her and there were no marks, that’s in the video.
The cops looked at Laundrie and they saw marks, scratches.
Probably to protect Brian, Gabby took the rap and said she hit him.
The cops had no reason not to believe her. They can’t arrest people based on anonymous caller’s statements.
He had the scratches, she did not.
Cop told Gabby she would feel better if she took a shower. She replied she had showered yesterday. Then he told her again she should take a shower. His wife feels better after she takes a shower, and tells her where she could get a public shower for $4-5. That cop was a demeaning arse.

Given that the 911 call relayed to the said that he was hitting her, why did the cops say the witness said she was slapping him?
The guy “looks” guilty. The parents “look” (sort of) like they helped him.
BUT, we don’t know WHAT he told them. We don’t know if they were involved in anything “criminal”.
Just WAIT for the FACTS to come out.
I’m sure their lawyer told them to SAY NOTHING. Very good advice for EVERYONE.
If you are involved (in ANY way) with a police investigation, the only word you say is “lawyer”.
Make ZERO statements, say NOTHING! Your words and information may land you (a completely innocent person) in PRISON!
One seemingly innocent statement can be “used against you, in a court of law”.
That’s why we have the Miranda warning.
ALWAYS take advantage of it, if questioned by the police/law enforcement/government.
This isn’t evidence yet of anything much less circumstantial.
Cops were told twice that he was hitting her but denied that in their report.
In the police report of the traffic stop some minutes later, a responding officer initially wrote that he believed “it was reported the male had been observed to have assaulted the female,” but later wrote that “no one reported that the male struck the female.”

There’s many reasons but I don’t know why.
Did they miss hear the information?
Where they trying to find the truth and threw that out there to hear what Brian or Gabby said about that?

If it does one day come out I’ll expect some oddity to his story.

No. He was confirming details to the other cops.
Facts:
“Petito said his family began worrying after several days without hearing from their daughter.
“We called Brian, we called the mom, we called the dad, we called the sister, we called every number that we could find,” Petito said. “No phone calls were picked up, no text messages were returned.””
The officer in charge in Moab might have been biased based on him telling Brian (while driving him to the hotel at the end of the video) that he too had a wife who suffered from anxiety attacks. He seemed to be relating to Brian’s situation and perhaps taking his side partly due to this.

She hit HIM with her cell phone, left MULTIPLE visible injuries on his face.
The police jumped upside down and backwards to come up with a way to NOT arrest HER for assault/domestic violence.
SHE was the perp, HE was the VICTIM.
Whatever happened AFTER this, I have no idea, but it’s all on video, over an hour, I think. I watched it ALL.
You should too before you misrepresent what was in it.
