I woke up in the middle of the night last night and flipped through the channels. Dog the Bounty Hunter was on. I had never seen it. I watched it for about 10 minutes. I estimate I lost an IQ point for every minute I watched. It was the most faked thing I have ever watched, and the entire cast belongs in a mental institution. I can’t believe people watch crap like this.

The App trail isn’t some isolated adventure, it’s has been conquered for decades and is full of REI Karen’s. You come across people and groups all the time. Many of them make the point to talk and take notes. Rudolph was able to survive because he had connections, and support because of his beliefs. This guy doesn’t have any of that.

He would need to somehow find a way to make an entire fake identity from scratch and I dunno how that is possible these days.

Its a lot easer than you think

No doubt. In this case, add publicity seeking narcissism.

He might attempt a splashy telegenic suicide.

Doubt very much Laundrie is a "seasoned woodsman."

Van trips to national parks do not a seasoned woodman make. Even if you do pop a tent now and then and scrounge for berries.

This website gives a bit of an idea of what it takes to be a master woodsman. Across multiple categories, such as Firecraft, Toolcraft, Ropecraft, Navigation and Travel, Food Sourcing, etc.

Necessary skills are listed for each of the following:

Apprentice Camper
Journeyman Camper
Journeyman Woodsman
Master Woodsman

I would put Laundrie in one of the two Camper rankings. Not in either of the Woodsman ones.

He can change his appearance by growing out his hair and beard. Winter’s coming. He may have to try to blend in with a homeless population somewhere. You just know law enforcement has feelers out to those hotspots.

Also doubtful he’s in the outback. Suggest the following on Laundrie’s disappearance: After a physical makeover say shaved head and full beard, his parents took him to Miami, close to home and an international city which has virtually anything for sale. Acquire portable wheelchair, then phony i.d. with Florida driver’s license with disability sticker. Next, prepaid three month rent in downtown condo. Reloadable debit cards linked to throwaway cell phone. You can reload these cards indefinitely. Who would be looking for a man in a wheelchair with clean I. D. and a different appearance in Miami?

“To go underground undetected with multiple LEO agency’s after you isn’t something many can do.”

Reminds me of a reality show (can’t recall the name) that was on a while back where individuals had to avoid detection (limited to a specific geographical area) for a week to win a million dollars. Learned a few things watching that one.

Most vanlife people fall into three categories.

The first are high tech digital nomads they have education and or skills that allow them to work remotely anywhere they can get a solid broadband network. With SpaceX Starlink satellite internet going live this becomes a world wide class of people. Think programmers, video game dev, software dev, medical coding ect. The covid gas vastly increased the class of people who can and are working remotely. Every single CSR rep I have talked to on the phone in the last 18 months has been at their home well over 50 different csr calls every one was at home or remote in India.

Group two are the gig economy workers who can make money doing uber, lyft, doordash ect. Or individual personal services like personal trainers , nutritionists, massage therapy. This group also includes the service industry types that bartend or waitress as seasonal venues like the beach or the ski resorts, and also given the high turnover if you are willing to bartend or waitress you can go pretty much anywhere and “pick up shifts” while in university I picked up shifts in three different cities hundreds of miles apart, bars back home, bars where university was and bars near where my GF lived. Not a single W2 ever filed all cash and carry. This is the norm in bar culture. The bar will 1099 if audited but I have never received an actual 1099 in the 7 years I slung bottles. Have bar tins and accoutrements will travel. At a busy night club it’s easy to make $300 cash a night three nights a weekend Thurs Fri,Sat. $800 was avg for a weekend.

Group three are funded by independent means. This group has the trust fund kids, and the temporary savers who sacked away a few thousand to go off grid for a year or so “finding” themselves. This group also has upper middle class and upper class “daddy” money types who are letting there kids go off and explore while they food the bill for a year or whatever. This group also has the entrepreneurial types who run a hustle out of the van be it an online biz, or day trading stocks. This group has the food truck restaurants that travel with the spring / summer break crowd’s to the beaches, ski slopes and national parks.

Not so sure he’s still in Florida. He and his parents know every LEO in Florida is on the lookout for him. They should figure that close to home, relatively speaking, is dangerous.
I still think he was sent north by his parents. How he’s getting north is open to question though.
Or maybe Cuba or Mexico.
Or maybe he’s hiding out in his folks attic. He ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed.

as I said a while back, if he’s made it to Falco, he can get into the woods and skirt around Alexander City/Talledega/Gadsden. Springer is just the ‘official’ start/end of the Trail. I’d give him time to get on the trail and then turn the hounds loose working north to south and south to north.
