On Golf channel, then Golf & NBC, then NBC. Other streaming options (and maybe thru 7 day free trial) is NBC owned Peacock network. And FUBOTV.
My Ryder Cup story. The UK team came to Charleston SC on the Concorde. I was in a piss poor state job that payed next to nothing. I was standing on the roof of our building and got to see it arrive. 3 years later I found a better job and was on the Concorde.
Whenever I see the words Whistling Straits, I think of nose hairs.
No. One. With. A. Functioning. Brain. Cares.
Thank you for starting this thread.
I love golf, and I was privileged to attend the 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine.
The excitement, patriotism, and enthusiasm of the spectators was epic.
I must be on Free Republic. A post about a golf tournament turns into bickering!
How about match play in baseball? It can be played in the off-season as a sponsored tournament with players from any teams forming their own team for the tournament.
The format is as follows:
Points are earned as follows:
Like I said, inspired by golf's match play, I tried to think up a way to play baseball with an alternate set of scoring rules.
I wonder if it would make for an exciting way to play the game? It certainly would speed it up by shortening extra innings and having games end early if one team dominates the other (if a team wins the first five innings, the game ends because the other team cannot make up the difference with four innings left).
A tournament format could be an open round where groups of four teams each play the others (three games each), and the top two from each group advance to the single-elimination bracket rounds.
Or, it could be a charity event where two teams play a three-game series. The team with the most innings won after three games wins the event.
