Monday, on her show “The ReidOut,” MSNBC anchor Joy Reid said that the media coverage of 22-year-old Gabby Petito is a clear case of “Missing White Woman Syndrome.”
Reid said, “If you’ve been watching the news for the past few days or on Twitter or TikTok, you’re familiar with the name Gabby Petito. The 22-year-old aspiring social media influencer who was reported missing after her fiancee returned from their van life excursion without her. On Sunday, human remains believed to be Petito’s were found in a national park in Wyoming. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow to confirm the identity. Now it goes without saying that no family should ever have to endure that kind of pain, and the Pepito family certainly deserves answers and justice

I think the media is just using that story to get Afghanistan, the border, the economy, etc. off of the news.
It's more likely a supply/demand issue.

Reid can report everyday on the Black deaths in Chicago if she so chooses.

She’s a vain, seemingly stupid lady with a sketchy fiancé who has now died.
How many others died in Chicago just last week? Where’s the constant coverage for those people?

For once, I agree with Reid. Why is this case burning up the news?
Reid should feel free to talk about the thousands of black Chicago folks killed and injured not by “gun violence”, not by “senseless violence”, but by real and evil other black Chicago folks.

It probably is but I am bypassing all threads on that story. I’m sorry for her and her love ones but I have no more interest in her death than in the death of other people I do not know.
