In Nevada, state and federal lawmakers said they are investigating a possible shortage of jet fuel that could delay cargo delivery and passenger travel at Reno-Tahoe International Airport in the coming days.
A spike in demand for jet fuel both by commercial airlines and from firefighting aircraft in Montana and the Pacific Northwest led to departure problems and daylong flight delays recently at Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport.
In California, recent flights in and out of Fresno Yosemite International Airport were disrupted by jet fuel shortages blamed on the lack of tanker truck driver deliveries.

Gee, wonder why? Processing issues?
Not enough truck drivers.
Supposedly.
IIRC all our fuels are trucked in to this area. Pipelines? I dont think so.
That will calm the sheeple. The media says the Feds are on it.
If there only was a more efficient and higher capacity delivery method than a truck.....mmmmmmmm...... let me think..........drone?.....mmmmm......RailRoad?.......mmmmmm....Oh PipeLine!!!!!!!!
Not just any truck driver, either. Must have hazmat endorsement.
Having trouble finding fuel truck drivers that’ll wear The Mask so the fuel isn’t contaminated with the COVID.
Drone!
If only the “elites” would stop flying around in theor private jets....
Oh wait they have fuel and the rifraf people do not?
“Pipelines? I dont think so.”
Most airports use pipelines. You don’t see lines of tanker trucks at airports, do you?
For the ignorant who think tanker trucks are the common means of delivering jet fuel at airports, a single 10,000 gallon tanker could only fill one Boeing 737 which holds about 10,000 gallons. Even smaller airports often have a pipeline even if smaller airplanes use a smaller tanker truck to deliver fuel to the ramp.
“IIRC all our fuels are trucked in to this area. Pipelines? I dont think so.”
Bozeman has a fuel distribution center with MANY tanks all served via pipeline. Trucks deliver the fuel to gas stations and airports, etc.
There are multiple fires in our area (Bozeman) as well as thought the state and the fire haze is the worst I’ve experienced in nearly 40 years. The fire fighting aircraft have first ‘dibs’ at the fuel...
It’s certainly odd...
Well, they should all be using windmills and solar panels....
If the demand is low (perhaps a couple of flights per day), then the fuel will be delivered by trucks from distribution center to the airport and from airport storage to the aircraft. Pipelines are expensive to build and would have to be justified by demand.
I have not heard or read about any jet fuel shortages prior to the pandemic. IMHO, this shortage is caused by extended unemployment benefits...a truck driver can make more money by staying home and collecting unemployment.
Same here. Trucks to a distribution point but AFAIK no pipelines from out of town. You want to fly, thank a truck driver. :-}
