I wonder if anyone tried to get a priest to say a public prayer for the souls of the dead?
Probably not. Most Floridans are probably not thinking about spirits right now. Reality is breathtaking enough alone.
In addition, the health dept. wants things wrapped up asap.
Understandable.
Praying for souls of the dead is too late. One you die you either go to heaven or hell.

I'm glad you mentioned it. I would be surprised if, upon hearing the news, a local priest did go to the site and say the prayers. I know mine would. Whether one did or not, the rest of us can offer a prayer for the repose of their souls.
Eternal Rest grant unto them, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon them. By the mercy of God may their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.
