Anyone here into fat and plus size tire bikes? I ride a salsa timberjack in 27.5+. I normally run 3.0s which are my all around tire.

I run 27.5 x 2.8” Maxxis Rekons on my hardtail which I really like. Running tubeless I can drop the pressure down to 12 PSI in the from and 14 PSI in the rear for an amazingly plush ride, for a hardtail. The lower pressure allows the tires to conform to the terrain.

The right tire depends a lot on your local terrain, plus your personal preference. In the greater northeast, we’ve got rocky soil, roots, mud, and hard pack. For me the Rekons work great. They hang up well on rocks but have fairly low rolling resistance.

I’m running WTB rangers front & back. I’ve found these to work well in multiple situations. I’m also still using tubes for the simple reason if anything goes sideways they can always be fixed easily. I’ve thought on/off about getting a fat bike and likely will when the bike crunch subsides. For now thought my 3.0s work well even in dry sand. Although a fat tire would make it easier. BTW I’m also in NE.
