Yep, this could happen anytime you go out for a ride.
I grew up on a bicycle.
I used to ride and commute on motorcycles.
I no longer do either.
I got tired of all the idiots on the
road trying to kill me.
Now when someone hits me, I’m the one that
goes to them and ask are you OK?
Montoya's "drifting" was probably assisted by alcohol and controlled substances. Montoya's rap sheet, mostly involving drugs and DUI, goes back to 2011.
Well that news suckaroos. Used to ride bicycles everywhere as a kid and young adult. If I ever take it up again it will be limited to off road trails or where cars aint. Our society is too full of morons and less than stellar citizens legal and illegal.
Nicky Hayden, world champion superbike and Grand Prix motorcycle racer was killed on a bicycle.

Which is why I almost only ride gravel, or trails.
A five-year span on an age group? Geesh. Who is that supposed to protect/serve?
Lots of age groups, tho, does accomplish what the Oscars did; create loads of categories so everyone gets a prize! Kinda like a participation trophy.
Too bad about the lady jock, tho. Riding on a street is risky. She didn’t have a spotter? Bummer.
You have to be Complete NUTS to ride a bike on or near a road (bike lanes). All those idiots out driving around with the face planted in their smart phone.
when I see people riding bikes along side of the road I always shake my head and wonder what are they thinking.
I tried getting into biking in college. Bought a nice bicycle and rode it around the outskirts of town to train. But the truckers continually running me off the road by coming up behind me and veering into the breakdown lane made it unviable. They could have easily killed me; they thought that it was fun.
The one time I was hit by a vehicle while cycling I was in a bike lane.
Mirrycle mirrors are good and are inexpensive. Just keep them adjusted.

Be sure to use a mirror that will rotate out of the way without moving the handlebar if it is clipped by a car's rear view mirror as the car passes. A rigidly mounted mirror can kill you. You can adjust the tightness of the Mirrycle mirror so it rotates easily out of the way if hit.
I don't understand why bike mirrors are not more popular with non-racers. A tiny amount of weight, a tiny amount of air resistance, and a mirror can save your life. Talk about no-brainers!
Only the paranoid survive.
Bike trails and wide sidewalks are so much safer than bike-lanes.
If it saves one life get rid of bike lanes. At least make them go in the opposite direction of traffic and make bicyclists obey all traffic laws.
We don’t bike fast roads. Just too dangerous. We use sidewalks when possible. You really have to watch for people turning into or leaving restaurants and other businesses. Neighborhoods are OK, but you have to be alert.
This is why I gave up cycling when we moved to North Carolina. I used to put on over 3000 miles a year on my bike — and competed in many races. I was in the best shape of my life in those days, but riding up north is different. The roads up north have shoulders. The roads in the south by and large don’t. I live now in a cycling paradise with the Blue Ridge Parkway passing by on the ridge above my home. It’s just not worth it. No way to get off the road and everyone these days are texting on their cell phones.
I miss it, but I think I’ll live a bit longer without it...
