Know your Nautical terminology

standing rigging
Rigging that supports masts and spars and is not manipulated during normal operations.

running rigging
Rigging used to manipulate sails, spars, etc. in order to control the movement of the ship.

I appreciate your nautical posts as I am quite ignorant on such things.

Have you ever read ‘The Compass’ by Alan Gurney? It was a bit dry, but I learned a lot from it. Just thought that I would mention it.
