Yankees third-base coach Phil Nevin has tested positive for COVID-19 in a “breakthrough” case after being fully vaccinated, the team announced.
Nevin, 50, is under quarantine in Tampa, where the Yankees are expected to open up a series against the Rays on Tuesday night.
Contract tracing is underway, the team said in a statement. Manager Aaron Boone said he expects Tuesday’s game to be played.
The Yankees in early April reached the 85 percent threshold of vaccinated players, coaches and others considered Tier I personnel to be able to relax COVID-19 protocols.

It was reported on Boston Sports Radio this afternoon that FIVE NY Yankee coaches who had been vaccinated tested positive.
Notice no mention is made of him being sick.
It was a test in a profession where they are tested regularly.
Exposure without any disease associated can test positive.
If he was not in MLB with regular testing schedules no one would know.

The tests have an incredibly high false positive rate. This type of test was designed to be a diagnostic tool meant to assist a physician in making a diagnosis using the test and the symptoms.
Why do we call this shot a vaccine when it is really a covid shot similar to a flu shot? It irks me.
Why is it a “breakthrough.” Plenty of other people have been vaccinated with one shot, and fully vaccinated with both shots, and contracted the virus. The question is, how many unvaccinated people has he infected?

Apropos of nothing, I’ve been watching professional Rugby from England and France recently (Premiereship and European Champions Cup). Besides playing in empty stadiums, when the players come off the field for injury or replacement, they mask up to sit in the stand with their teammates. This after playing unmasked. You get really close to other people in a scrum!
There have been about a little over 100 actual verified cases of unvaccinated people contracting Wuhan twice out of hundreds of millions.
Imagine a virus that you have to be tested to even know you have it.
That doesn't answer the question I asked. How many unvaccinated people has he infected since he tested positive? We know people can get the virus despite being vaccinated, but nobody bothers to present the number of unvaccinated people infected by these vaccinated people.
