For a good 15 to 20 years I ripped my entire CD collection to MP3, then continued buying used CDs and borrowing them from the public library to build up my home digital library.

I have 19k+ tunes in my mp3 library. Most of these are from ripped CDs. I have a bunch of old stuff that we got from my late wife's uncle who had been a DJ for a long time during the big band era. Had a turntable set up to burn to a CD writer. That was sweet! Unfortunately, we had issues getting all the titles cataloged correctly, so I don't know who some of the bands are.

Same here with my boom box and tapes. Nothing beat the TDK-SA90.

I have probably 3,000 records and I used to record them onto cassettes so I could play them in the car.

Nowadays, I get much of my music from Youtube. But I will have to start digitizing my Youtube playlists either with a Youtube-to-MP3 program or Audacity because Cancel Culture may soon be taking aim at music.

It was just like the commercials said. You couldn’t tell if it was live or if it was Memorex. Especially if you were stoned.

We used to break the tape and throw the cassette out the car window while hanging on to the end of the tape. It would unspool for what seemed to be a mile and keep dragging and bouncing around. It was a riot on the interstate.

That’s a memory from the 80’s, driving around town and seeing all the glittering ribbons of cassette tape along the roads :-)
