Anyway, Sterling was badly hurt and the fight was called, Sterling is Champ by disqualification, crazy. Sterling was more upset than Yan and dropped the belt in disgust.

Head stomping was legal in Japan white elbows weren’t. At least in the old K1, that is. So just because the Japanese sanction it doesn’t mean a US state sport commission will sanction it.
The rules in modern UFC were developed to prevent the feds from abolishing the sport back in the early 90s. Ahem... John McCain... ahem.
But you probably already knew all that if you’re a fan of the sport.
Unified rules was more like the early 2000s.
I remember, the ignorance was baffling, “12-6” elbows were banned cause some idiot once saw some guy breaking blocks with his elbow or something like that.
It was still a great night. The undercard was just awesome. Cruz fight was killer. Yan was a disappointment but but feature bout delivered. Izzy got his butt kicked but he fought like a champ start to finish. Jan is the real deal. The Stipe of LHW.

Horrible way to win, but there will likely be a pretty immediate rematch to settle who should have the title, barring some lucky punch or kick.
