In 1992, I was in college in Cleveland when the KKK obtained a permit to assemble on public square. Students were outraged! A political science mayor told us to shut up. Haters had the right to free speech as long as they didn’t act upon it. A black major, Michael White, told Clevelanders the same thing. And also told us to ignore them and not to be confrontational. The KKK was there for about 30 minutes and had an audience of zero. But those were the days when people still believed in the Constitution.

Right wingers never call for the banning of books because we support free speech and left wingers have no issue with that one.
