Those antique apple peelers work because they are made of cast metal. The ones my wife buys these days are all made out of cheap flimsy plastic and either break, or flex so much that they don’t work properly.

She likes to make homemade apple sauce.

Mother-in-law liked to tell the story of how she got her kitchen repainted including a new flat ceiling instead of the popcorn. It involved applesauce.

And a pressure cooker. And applesauce stopping up a pressure cooker vent — until the whole rubber vent blew out.

Followers of this thread would probably like the television show 'American Restoration'.

Customers bring in neat items with personal significance to loved ones both living and deceased. It's fascinating to see how the items were built and why they were built that way.
