I assume many are going to DC rally on January 6. Even with no funny business cell phone service will be difficult if not impossible. Any ham radio operators going? Suggestions for frequencies, etc?

If you are a member of American Contingency the organization that Mike Glover has put together is trying to put something together.
If you look in the Ham Radio Section of American Contingency, there is a thread that was started about putting something together but as of today nothing has been formalized.
I could an HF net or something like that could result of this.
I finished up my Christmas ham in a tetrazzini sauce that knocked my Birkenstocks off.

The software called Mumble last time I looked can run a pi 4 or android/apple

I’m going to the Mall. They say that cellphone signals will likely be out due to having a million phones in one place.
I’m looking for a small FM radio that also receives HD radio signals for news.
And I wonder if there’s one that can also receive the local TV station signals for news broadcasts?

Do those handheld scanners (police/fire) pick up ham radio frequencies?
Sadly, I can’t make it to DC. But am glad you posted this thread. I will follow it to see what folks post re hams, especially any comments post-rally re functionality etc. I just picked up a hand held BaoFeng and am in the process of programming it. When it becomes clear that Trump will have the electoral votes he needs, it won’t surprise me if we suffer communications outages as well as other types of civil disruptions. I am pulling as much cash as I can out of the bank to keep on hand as well.
I also have a Baofeng. Got my license but just don’t spend enough time with it to become proficient.
