After two decades and multiple efforts to include a National Museum of the American Latino in the Smithsonian Institution, Congress finally voted to build the museum honoring the contributions of Latinos to the United States.
Congress voted late Monday night on the $2.3 trillion omnibus spending package — which includes the bill to build a Latino museum as well as a separate bill to build a national women’s history museum as part of the Smithsonian Institution.
The bill to build a National Museum of the American Latino was introduced by Texas Sen. John Cornyn, a Republican, and New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez, a Democrat.
“Obviously in Texas, with 40% of our population Hispanic, this is a deserving tribute to these Texans and their forebears,” Cornyn said Monday, “but I think it will be an important educational opportunity for all Americans to learn more about the contributions of a very diverse ethnic group of Latinos.”

Wife and I both voted for cornyn. On the way out to the car afterwards we both expressed the thought that we wished we hadn’t.
If there ever again elections, you can be damn sure I won’t ever vote for him again.
George P. Bush considering a 2022 run for Texas AG
Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush will “keep all options open” about a potential bid for attorney general in 2022 as current Attorney General Ken Paxton grapples with a mutiny from his senior staff and the spectre of a criminal investigation, a senior adviser for Bush said Monday.
“Several donors have asked Commissioner Bush to consider running for Attorney General in 2022 in light of the recent allegations about that office,” Ash Wright, a senior political adviser for Bush, said in a statement to The Texas Tribune. “Commissioner Bush has always said he will ‘keep all options open’ and that remains his policy. Like many conservative leaders around the state, he is very concerned about the allegations regarding Paxton.”
Bush, son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and nephew of former President George W. Bush, is the only member of the well-known Republican family to currently hold office, though a cousin, Pierce Bush, ran unsuccessfully this year for the GOP nomination in Texas’ 22nd Congressional District. He was elected in 2014 to oversee the Texas General Land Office, a statewide position.

Cornyn is fundraising for George P Bush primary challenge against AG Paxton.
Bush money is rolling in.
Highlighting Pancho Villa and Santa Ana I suppose....
Cornyn is full speed ahead on Amnesty.
So does that mean all the other stuff at the Smithsonian, all the science, etc., is the white museum?
Jes axing.
A Museum is certainly the biggest concern of Hispanics right now.
Not their family, jobs, opening a business, or paying their bills.
It’s been vetoed.
Cornyn. Blech
Bingo!
Where is the wing for Irish and Chinese who built the rail roads?
WIll there be Taco Tuesdays at the museum?
How about Margarita Mondays?
Frijole Fridays?
Stay out of the bushes
Having spent nearly three decades as a senior scholar at the Smithsonian, I can state with some certainty that the true name of the museum should be The Anti-American Latino Museum. There is no malignant social pathology that is not part of the SI fabric.
