Nigella Lawson reveals why she will not be cooking turkey this Christmas
bbc ^ | 12/23/2020

Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson has said that "for the first time ever" she will not cook a Christmas turkey this year.

Instead, she told the BBC's Newscast podcast, she would be cooking pork.

While restrictions have been eased for some parts of the UK over Christmas, millions of people will not be allowed to see their loved ones.

And Lawson, 60, said she felt following a traditional path while not having "a family Christmas" would make her "feel what's missing".

"I actually - and I only made the decision a couple of days ago - for the first time ever, I am not going to do a turkey - and I always do," she said.

"I'm doing pork.

"It's not going to be a normal family Christmas, therefore I think I will feel less sad doing something that is just a lovely lunch, that takes in a few Christmas traditions from elsewhere that interest me, but [does] not... make me feel what's missing."

"I'm doing pork."

She's in luck, the stimulus bill is full of it.

I wonder, is she no longer with the muslim fellow?

She still looks pretty good for a 60 year old woman.

Nigella Lawson was born in Wandsworth, London,[5] one of the daughters of Nigel Lawson,[6] a future Conservative MP and Chancellor of the Exchequer in Margaret Thatcher’s government, and his first wife Vanessa Salmon (1936–1985),[7] a socialite[8] and the heiress to the J. Lyons and Co. fortune.[9] Both her parents were from Jewish families.

Are you sure this isn’t just a little joke? The Lawsons are a well-known wealthy old British Jewish family.

>>I wonder, is she no longer with the muslim fellow?

She left after he was physically and mentally abusive.

She sure does a lot of Christmas cooking specials for an atheist.

Lawson is of Jewish heritage. Both of Lawson’s parents are Jewish and her upbringing was non-observant. Lawson is an atheist.[132][13][133]

All the Jews I know eat pork. And if you see a cook on the Food Channel who is Jewish, they all seem to cook and eat pork. My wife and I once had breakfast with the owner of the company where I work. He and his wife and son are Jewish, and they all had bacon.

We’re headed to South Padre Island in Texas to enjoy a few days next week with my daughter and her husband, his family and our granddaughters. Then we are headed to Chicago to see our son, his wife and our grandkids as well as my wife’s sister and her family.

Then we’re coming back to Kentucky to enjoy a “belated” Christmas with my three daughters, their husbands, and another granddaughter.

But then, we live in the land of the free. And your life is what you make it. The government can pound sand - which is a lot easier in the US. This is why the pilgrims came here in the first place. Duh.

OH That sounds good! It will just be my husband and me for Christmas dinner (saw the kids last weekend). We bought a BIG (almost 7 lbs) chicken, and will have mashed potatoes and gravy, some boxed stuffing mix. Not my favorite, but easy. I might fry up some rosette cookies over the weekend, if I get ambitious.

I chopped some sliced water chestnuts and added them to the boxed stuffing last time I made it and the family really liked it.
