The inquiry into the 2019 attacks on two Christchurch mosques revealed on Tuesday that security services had not given enough focus to right-wing terror, and could only have prevented the shootings “by chance.”
The judicial probe called for 44 key changes to counterterrorism operations in response to the murder of 51 Muslim worshipers by a white supremacist.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern welcomed the publishing of the almost 800-page report and said she would accept recommendations.
“The Royal Commission found no failures within any government agencies that would have allowed the individual’s planning and preparation to have been detected but did identify many lessons to be learned and significant areas needing change,” she said in a statement.
The report concluded that there were no clear signs that the shooter was an imminent threat since he had few meaningful interactions with people in New Zealand.
He had been radicalized online — especially over YouTube — while living in Australia and then used money he inherited from his father to travel the world before eventually settling in New Zealand in 2017. …

If their security forces need to make 44 changes to security procedures and methods, then “CHRIST CHURCH/HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM”.
The mosque should have had its own security force or hired one to protect it just as churches and synagogues have had to do around the world. Doesn’t take a genius to figure that out.
If you can’t think about potential problems, and that is your job, then you are not qualified for it and should quit - from the Chief of Police to the PM.
No excuse for stupidity, blindness “I know nothing”, arrogance (It can’t happen here), “No threat from the Left/Right/Jihadists/etc”) attitude, to sheer incompetence and lack of professional training..
Other than that, the police did okay in NZ.

The NZ PM is the kind of idiot to notice a story over a dog-bite situation, and start a national commission to halt all dog-bites. A thousand man-hours into this....the obvious is stated....you can’t prevent dog-bites unless you kill all dogs. Then the pro-dog lobby will get all freaky and you end up with the next commission...to halt all anti-dog lobbyists.
The Marxists did use this “unpreventable” atrocity as an excuse to implement strict gun control/bans so as to prevent the unpreventable. Never let an opportunity go to waste.

Someone should convince the PM to install a large bomb in each mosque that will eliminate any invader.
