While I do not know details about this company, please remember that many American companies have sold the naming rights to their brands to (mostly) Chinese companies.
Westinghouse televisions, Polaroid imaging and probably the holder of the Crock-Pot name earn up front money from naming rights.
If no American engineers are overseeing the design or QC of the products, this is exactly what happens over and over.

That is dangerous. My mother-in-law was canning vegetables and somehow the lid of the cooker blew off when she was right over it, spewing very hot water all over her face.
She had to go to the hospital for the burns.

I will not buy stove pans with glass lids as I have read how they can shatter. I saw a video of a pyrex dish that shattered at a dinner table. The comments there were that Corning changed the formula for the glass and it was not as good anymore.
