I was very young at the time, and remember little except that a game had run into overtime, and my elders were in a lather about it. A few years later I read the appalling details.

My wife and I were watching TV about the election - three nights later.
She commented “I remember as a kid...back when elections were just one night. And I was SO frustrated that all three channels only had the election on! And my parents were all wrapped up in it!”
Last night I switched it over to “Hogan’s Heroes”!
The massive difference is they did this in the open so that everyone knows what they did.
As such, it posses an existential threat to stability for our entire Republic. Letting it stand would destabilize the world. No exaggeration there. What would the world look like without the USA?
The planet would be enslaved by China. Many understand this.
Perhaps enough to turn it back again.
