Another bonus: Hornets can hit you repeatedly without breaking a sweat - or a stinger.

Rather doubtful. They’ve only been spotted in a couple placed in Washington State.

Size wise, you wont mistake them

Normal size we are used to are about an inch long

These giant ones are double the size, 2 inches long, four times the volume

You would, probably know the difference if it was a real one, youd be freaking how big it is

Great comment at the DM site:

“Joe doesn’t want to separate them from their parents. So they are going to put them in host nests. Then he going to give them amnesty and set them free on us.”

Yeah, I’m sure. The ones I now have in a baggie awaiting my pest guy’s inspection are similar in appearance and people are freaking out about them. I know I did. I really hate bugs, but these are kinda pretty.

What sizes have you seen in those in the baggie?

If they are around two inches they are huge.

One inch is our normal expected sizes

Then i would seriously doubt they are asian giant hornets.

May have some similar colorings but the major size difference is a key identifier.

The suits are a little over the top.

In photos in the article they’re attaching the tracking devices barehanded.

Me thinks the getups in the forest scenes were designed by democrat governors...

Um, wouldn’t a flame thrower have been just as effective?

Maybe, but a shop vac does the job with much less turbulence.

I have done this a couple of times with hive insects. Just suck them into a shop vac, follow up with a spray of RAID and plug the tube with a rag. Works like a dream and nothing catches fire.

One day not long after I bought my very first little ranch house, I walked into the kitchen one fine morning and there was a black vertical line, about one inch wide on the outside wall going from floor to ceiling. “How odd. I haven’t seen that before. How did I miss that?” I thought to myself. On closer inspection I found it was ANTS coming indoors for the coming winter.

I got out the shop vac and sucked them all up, then sprayed RAID into the vac to kill all of them. Worked like a champ.

The next morning, the black floor-to-ceiling line was back! Then I called the exterminator.
