I'm on a lot of different websites, mostly private ones, that feature books, magazines, tv shows, movies, you name it. If it's in a digital format it's there. Usually I just browse and ignore but this latest issue of the New York Book Review had a cover that really tweaked my curiosity. I expected a good amount of TDS inside but I hoped for at least a small bit of balance. As a New Yorker would say, fuhgedaboutit. The closest it came to an opposing viewpoint was one author blaming Democratic complacency in 2016 for our current state of affairs.
They call this the election issue. I am hoping they do a followup in December after Trump wins again so I can read the hysterics and lamentations of the losers.
Truly possessed.

They’re all missing Nazi and Hammer & Sickle armbands.
You know, it’s one thing if people don’t like Trump. Or even hate Trump. Or even hate Trump with a heat of a hundred Suns. But to imagine they have to buy books and all kinds of materials to hear about this over and over and over and over again, in addition to watching news about how much they hate Trump..... don’t they ever get bored with this? Or is it so energizing to their emotional state to activate their Trump hatred that it is like a drug for them. I can’t quite figure it out. Not that I even try, or care to try. I mean, they liken Trump to Hitler. Okay, Hitler is dead, long dead. But they liken Trump to Putin, who is still alive. Do they spend all their free time holding hands in circles and singing songs of hatred for Putin? No, they don’t. They claimed that Putin influenced our elections, and they hold themselves out to be champions of democracy, so elections, being the Hallmark of a democracy, they should really, really hate Putin. But instead, they busy themselves with hating Trump. With religious fervor. I just don’t get it.
You nailed it at the end. Trump hate is their substitute for religion.
Only recognize old Communist Party member (many decades ago) Vivian Gornick. Have no idea who the other idiots are.
I’m reading Orwell, Hoffer, Haynes/Klehrs, Romerstein, Loudon, Rummel, etc. Real people who lived real lives and saw reality as it was.
Bump
Notice the dead-eyed sameness of those leftist zombies pulling down the Trump statue?
Years ago PJ O’Rourke had a piece about: which is worse, smart or stupid?
He spent an entire evening watching prime time TV (stupid),
and three hours reading every page of New York Review of Books (smart);
then he critiqued each one.
Smart was not better.
Thanks for the reading list!
I know Orwell and Hoffer and RJ Rummel.
Haynes, Klehr, Romerstein, and Loudon are new to me.
Real people who lived real lives and saw reality as it was.

I’ve learned that the majority of books on the NYT list, plus anything even short-listed for all the various literary awards has a high probability of being turgid and unreadable.
A skim of reviews and browsing the text, usually supports this conclusion.
I stopped submitting last summer, when submission guidelines after submission guidelines highlighted the need for diversity or requested work on topics such as global warming/criticism of capitalism,or that priority would be given to work by members of all the various groups in the woke alphabet listings.
When this is all history, there will be many works discovered that dissent from the current enforced topics and *standards*. Not sure I’ll still be here, but writers write, even when the PTB refuse to publish.
It was the statue with the ropes that caught my eye in the first place. What is it about Leftists, anger, unhappiness and destruction of other people's property?
Can’t figure out why he is shown riding a Dem Donkey unless it is a clever admission that he took away some traditional dem voters.
More TDS and they are welcome to display it. No one shuts THEM down and takes away their 1st Amendment rights.
Other than giving them a party to declare with when running for office because their true parties are so small, Progressives and Communists have little use for the Democratic Party. It is probably the symbolism of Trump sitting on a worthless, broken down donkey that they also want to topple.
