My first college campus was the University of Chicago, which had an awful combination of Gothic (Quadrangle, Harper Library, Burton Judson), Modern(Pick Hall, Pierce Tower) and Brutalist (Regenstein Library). My own dormitory, at least was the Shoreland, which was a classically designed early 20th century upscale hotel.

The Reg, was only outdone by the Life Sciences building at Trinity College in Hartford, CT, where I had worked decades ago. It was ugly enough to be featured as a forbidden pharmaceutical headquarters on a soap opera.

One building looks like a bunch of storage pods stuck together and the other building looks more like a parking garage than an office building.

This the University of Toronto Library building where I spent many a hour reading and contemplating life. It is triangular in shape from above. It had a nickname of Fort Book. The building in front is somewhat separate and blocks the view a bit but you can get an idea of what it looks like.

That is as breathtaking as Pyongyang.

I have contended in the past that the winter heating of the B level of Regenstein was assisted by the buried atomic pile from Stagg Field. What say you?

Regenstein is definitely one of the ugliest and least useful buildings I have ever seen.

That looks like the Cypress Structure of the I-80 freeway in Oakland, CA right after the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake (whose anniversary is today).

Makes me want to pull up a huge cannon and open fire as in THE PRIDE AND THE PASSION. Those wall designs remind me of a cheapo version of Avila, Spain.
