SHELBYVILLE, Mich. — A Michigan county sheriff defended the men arrested in a plot to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, including a member of the group he appeared with on a stage at a rally earlier this “I haven’t read everything up on it, I’ve got other duties to do, it wasn’t our investigation," Barry County Sheriff Dar Leaf told WXMI. “I was shocked, did not see this coming with those guys, but still we can’t convict them in the media here, they do have a right to a fair trial.”
Leaf was a speaker at a rally in May protesting Whitmer’s stay-at-home order because of the coronavirus. William Null, one of the men charged in the plot, can be seen on stage standing alongside Leaf.

He’s not “defending” them. He’s correctly stating that they have a right to a fair trial in a court and not the lying media. Personally, I think it’s a bunch of useful idiots that got sucked in my scheming FBI creeps into saying idiot things. No sympathy on that from me.. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. The headline is a lie. He was not “defending” them. He was defending due process a-holes.

Frankly, people on FR sometimes say similar stupid things. It probably wouldn’t take much for an FBI operative to milk a few more statements our of these people and get FR classified as a terrorist site.

Yeah, there may have been a “plot” but not really much of a “plan”. We shall see. My observation from past cases is that the FBI expends a lor of resources on run of the mill wingnuts who were unlikely to ever actually do anything, whereas they don’t have much success stopping those actually close to striking. IDK of course, but that is how it seems.

I thought that antifa-type extremists were the ones behind the plot, but the media spun it the other way.
