When the life of that ‘Treasure Chest money’ myth died out, so to did the Storyteller. The drama and intrique was likely keeping him alive, giving him a ‘raison d’ete’.
This would make a good series of adventure movies.
The movies could show how the compulsion to search for that treasure enhanced and at times ruined the hunter’s lives.

Glad someone found the treasure chest, but I believe the treasure hunt to have been a cruel exercise.
