Dump Windoze and install Linux. Problems solved.
I am going to make one of my older laptops a Linux only box.
The HDD failed a few months ago. It’s an M6700 and in overall good shape.
Live Ubuntu runs on it well.
I dumped Winblows and installed Linux Mint, the ultimate service pack.
I installed QEMU to run a copy of Windows XP Home in a window and was pleasantly surprised to discover it could still be activated. This was about 3 weeks ago.
