Thank you for the reply.

My oldest son has had COVID and some symptoms seem to be hanging around, mostly fatigue. But he is getting better.

I'm not a Mississippian, but I'm guessing a sign saying, "You should do XYZ, because people in New York City do it," is not going to be effective.

Kind of like saying here in Texas, 'Says here this salsa comes from New York City!'

“So the NFL should cancel the kneeling and the entire season....right?”

Don’t think many would notice.

I’m glad he is getting better. A good viral infection can take 6 weeks or so to recover your strength completely. I would have him get checked out if he doesn’t go to ie to improve or if things worsen again

Think again. This is actually a known complication from longstanding or sliw-to-resolve flu/cold infections.

An ECG taken in the wake of this problem will alarm like crazy if spots of dead cardiac muscle tissue had been left behind. Scar tissue does not conduct electricity. So pacing pulses (from node to node to node) are at risk of scattering and sending an otherwise healthy young heart into fibrillation (massive heart attack, often fatal and with no advance warning unless a doctor thought to prescribe an ECG or echocardiogram to rule out just this problem). If found before such an attack, a heart transplant may be the only good option.

Complication? Yes.

A third of all Covid patients? NO!

How frequently are all college athletes checked for myocarditis?

I think fairly often because cardiac issues are a major concern if you're clearing people to play competitive sports (they were when I was in high-school anyway).

What I'd like to know is do other viral infections cause this condition? The flu for example. Are we building up COVID to be a bigger bogeyman than it really is?

OK that’s cool. I was just curious about where the “snake pit” vitriol came from.

First, NBA, college basketball, college baseball, college lacrosse, and tons of high school athletes were playing their sports when China virus hit China virus hit in January but we did not realize it until March. Not one athlete died. High school kids in many parts of the country are playing football right now. Not a single death. I see cross country runners running up and down the street. Not a single death. I am calling official bullshit.

Additionally, wouldn’t we see reports of random joggers or cyclists who die of this condition? As most people are asymptomatic, individuals who are currently engaged in athletic activities would be at risk? I personally know several athletes who are training for their sports. I’m confident that millions of athletes are training at this time. Yet I haven’t heard of one death.

One, Sabastianelli is a pro when it comes to sports medicine. The myocarditis brought on by Covid....the docs don’t know how quickly folks recover from it at all. If highly trained athletes can be made average, then the average person might be debilitated for the rest of their lives.

Mann is like Sandusky. Sabastianelli is like Cael Sanderson.

It’s just trash talk. You’re correct the Mississippi football fans don’t care about the Big Ten but when Ohio State starts chest thumping, watch out. There are 11 states with SEC teams but only 3 have two in each state. Mississippi is one of them.

My point is : Where are the dead athletes? There are millions of athletes in the US alone who have been training or playing during the last 8 months. Nobody has died. I see my local high school cross country team running 10 miles every day. Some states never shut down their sports.

Fortunately, that is not true with the SEC.

On the other hand, Alabama caved to the America haters - Roll Over Tide.

Yep, fake news. You wait a couple of days, and here it is:
https://www.zerohedge.com/medical/reports-linking-30-35-big-ten-athletes-covid-myocarditis-were-inaccurate

Inaccurate? “At this time, there have been no cases of myocarditis in COVID-19 positive student-athletes at Penn State.” More like full-on psy-ops Bravo Sierra.
