Kids who don’t show COVID-19 symptoms can still spread virus for weeks, study shows

Just as schools are reopening across the country, a new study is detailing how kids who have the coronavirus but don’t show symptoms can still spread the infection for weeks.

Two Washington-based scientists made the discovery by analyzing South Korean kids who had been hospitalized because they tested positive for COVID-19 — even though roughly four out of 10 had either no symptoms or only mild ones, German news outlet DW reported.

I hope there is not a huge outbreak when the kids go back to school for their couple of days per week in September.

W.C. Fields was right!

Opening schools provides a new path for the virus to spread, though kids ‘get around’ a lot anyway.
With enough testing though it also provides a way to stop the spread.
Close call IMHO.

This is ridiculous, unless that kid was monitored and tested 24/7 for several weeks there is no way to know how long he had COVID, the global pandemic ruse to damage Trump’s re-election becomes that more obvious...

Nothing I see in the study shows asymptomatic TRANSMISSION. Asymptomatic with virus? Yes. Transmitting? No. They found “detectable virus” using swabs, which is vastly different from transmitting the virus to others.

As they note: “Qualitative positive or negative findings for molecular detection of virus may not necessarily correlate with infectivity.”

IOW, more Fear Porn. Avoid people sneezing, coughing or complaining of a fever. Your odds of staying healthy are excellent.

....

Sorry to sound like an A$$hole to you, but most of us are sick to death of this nonstop concern! People have had their lives destroyed by this bug! How about some concern for them?

Conflicts with other study that said no symptoms, no spread.

The Study is of “asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic children”, includes children with symptoms! Lying Headline, correct headline would have been symptomatic children whose symptoms weren’t recognized or detected could spread virus.

This is the source study and source article

Why not? I hope there is a huge outbreak among the children. They are largely immune and asymptomatic and they will help us get to herd immunity.

You can be 100% certain that there will be a huge “surge” or “spike” in new “cases”’as soon as kids go back to school, whether there actually is one or not (and if there is, it will be irrelevant, as COVID has already claimed the low hanging, vulnerable fruit (thanks in no small part to governors like Cuomo and Murphy)). The “news” stories have already been written.

Stop being a dupe.

Know what concerns me?

All the OTHER viruses and bacteria that kids have been sheltered from.

How many people and kids are going to start getting continuously sick because they’ve lost that hearty build-up of immunity from being out with others....

Why do you post this crap? There is no evidence that asymptomatic people, especially children, can infect others. European countries have had kids in school for months with no outbreaks.

Yes, and that GOES FOR WE WHO SUFFER FROM OTHER MEDICAL CONDITIONS!

Back of the bus, if you don’t have COVID!

FGS, the other day I had a stress test because I’ve developed something horrid with body pain for weeks on end. It’s scary and we’re including heart problems as possibilities.

I was screened there as I haven’t yet been even 2x at the ER,

“Are you following all the governors rules”

“Do you interact with anyone outside your home...”

“Do you see your mother at her house or yours?”

“Do you wear masks when you’re together.”

“You should be wearing your masks when you’re in other houses including her”

She didn’t like me. I said nah, not gonna happen, and I’m not gonna be a good little NAZI.

Does this article say that Koreans are hospitalizing kids with no symptoms or am I misunderstanding?
