‘Crime is not being prosecuted’: Wyandotte County DA Mark Dupree endangers public safety
kansascity.com ^ | July 23, 2020 | By The Kansas City Star Editorial Board

Something is wrong, dangerously wrong, in Wyandotte County. And it’s spilling out into the entire Kansas City region.

Whether through incompetence or inexperience, the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office is inarguably playing Russian roulette with the public’s safety. And people may be dying as a result.

In an investigation by The Star, alarmed sources inside the criminal justice system have warned about District Attorney Mark Dupree’s presiding over shockingly lenient plea deals, missing and belated subpoenas, unlawful delays in producing evidence for defense attorneys and violent cases being dismissed and suspects let free.

After The Star’s review of nearly 50 criminal cases that local legal experts found poorly handled, and interviews with multiple prosecutors, victims and even defense attorneys, it’s inescapable that the bungled prosecutions of two high-profile alleged sex offenders — Dennis Clark, a nurse accused of sexually assaulting anesthetized patients at two Kansas City-area hospitals, and Michael E. Mastel, a former Wyandotte County deputy charged with child sex abuse — are just the tip of a jagged iceberg of fumbled cases under Dupree.

Mastel’s case was nearly dismissed last year due to prosecutorial negligence. Clark’s jury in November acquitted him on one count and hung on four others — nearly acquitting him on those, too — despite his being previously convicted in an identical case of sexual assault on anesthetized patients in Johnson County.

Black crime gets free ride and there’s not enough White crime to make the job even worth the money

Our justice system is being destroyed. Wyandotte and Leavenworth Counties offer two good examples. The Wyandotte DA is out of control and is turning criminals loose for political purposes. In Leavenworth, the country attorney is preying on the weak, the poor, and the unconnected to get cheap convictions to advance his own political career. I’m sure that most counties in Kansas fit into one or both categories. It’s broken.

C'mon, man! Has it never occurred to the KC Star Editorial Board that all this is BY DESIGN and is not an accident or incompetence? I'd hazard a guess and say the KC MO DA is a kissing cousin of the St. Louis DA.

Destroying justice, law, and order is exactly what George Soros is paying for, and he is getting his money’s worth. I can’t wait until he dies. I just can’t wait.

If prosecutors cede justice to the criminals they have no legitimate argument against Vigilantism.

You are right about that, but I do remember that the KC Star did a major investigation relating to Bill Clinton's father and his circumstances around his death and the relationship with Bill Clinton's mother. The investigation called into serious question the assertion that Bill Clinton's father was the man killed in the automobile accident and that his real father had ever been married to Bill Clinton's mother.

But, that's when we had real newspapers in this country.

Wrong state, Wyandotte county is in Kansas, and part of the city of Kansas City, KS. It is almost entirely all Demoncrat.

Congressional District 3 includes a large portion of Wyandotte County, which complicates things when we try to elect a Republican representative out here. Rarely do we have any Repub candidate running against someone like the DA in our local elections.

It is spreading. The people in the affected areas need to write or call their State Representatives and Governors And this November vote them out of Office.

When you google KCK there is a small map shown. Click on that and you get a larger map along with a skyline view of KCMO.

Ah, yes, the views from the west and north. The most common views online.

KCMO wants everyone to think of Kansas City, MO and not KC, KS, even when it comes to the news reports. Residents know what the news reports are referring to from long experience. But they ARE two separate cities!

It’s far cheaper to buy local prosecutors than a US Senate seat. Soros is making smart investments with these marxists.
