Former first lady Michelle Obama said on her podcast Thursday that “white America” acts like black women — including herself — don’t exist.
“When I’ve been completely incognito, during the eight years in the White House, walking the dogs on the canal, people will come up and pet my dogs, but will not look me in the eye. They don’t know it’s me,” the former first lady said in “The Michelle Obama Podcast.”
“What white folks don’t understand, it’s like that is so telling of how white America views people who are not like them. You know, we don’t exist. And when we do exist, we exist as a threat. And that, that’s exhausting,” Obama continued.(snip)
“We were stopping to get ice cream, and I had told the Secret Service to stand back because we were trying to be normal, trying to go in,” Obama said.
“When I’m just a black woman, I notice that white people don’t even see me. … I’m standing there with two little black girls, another black female adult, they’re in soccer uniforms. And a white woman cuts right in front of us to order. Like ― she didn’t even see us,” she said.
“The girl behind the counter almost took her order. And I had to stand up because I know [Pemberton-Heard] was like, ‘Well, I’m not gonna cause a scene with Michelle Obama,’” she continued. “So I stepped up and I said, ‘Excuse me? You don’t see us four people standing right here, you just jumped in line?’”
Obama said the woman “didn’t apologize, she never looked me in my eye, she didn’t know it was me. All she saw was a black person, or a group of black people, or maybe she didn’t even see that. Because we were that invisible.”

So she’s offended at allegations of cutting in line?
I want to be careful how I say this, so I don’t get banned. But I’ve heard from people at amusement parks, and theme parks, that those places with big number of black visitors, often see blacks cutting in line at such places.
So if the issue is cutting in line, we could discuss that.
Is she really upset that people at the ice cream place didn’t recognize her at Michelle Obama, First Lady of the United States????? Maybe that’s her real problem.
I recall one time during their White House years, Michelle went incognito to shop at a Target, and she had a baseball cap and sunglasses on, which helped disguise her appearance. She also dressed very plainly, and she went unrecognized in that Target store.
So what’s the deal? Does she prefer not to be recognized in public? What exactly is her point?
There are a lot of nasty black women. They don’t thank me when I hold a door open for them, and they have an amazing tendency to go on screaming tirades over the littlest things. I occasionally see them at the stores I frequent.
Michelle Obama is transitioning from entitled scold as First Lady into a malignant crank.
Most black women scare me. They are always pissed off and ready to snap off your head.
Michelle is nothing but a racist! So sick of these people.
I guess Michael would get offended if I did not recognize her in public. If I did why should I say hi to her.
