Sigh - it’s great but not enough. How about televising a team scrimmage for all the fans? They can watch you and not the airheads.

As a life-long Steelers fan, thank you, Coach Tomlin. Empty gestures are just that, void of substance, meaning, and impact.

The ONLY good response is “because it has nothing to do with football”

I wouldn’t watch even a single play of the Negro Felons League, even if I was paid to do so.

I have more respect for my God, our country, The State of Texas, and myself than support millionaire criminals who hate America by watching them play and seeing the hate America corporate advertisers. And that goes equally to the NBA, NHL, MLB, and especially to their farm teams the College and University NCAA sports.

Mike Tomlin is no good.

Back in 2017 Pittsburgh Steeler Alejandro Villanueva - a US Army combat veteran - went out and stood for the National Anthem before a game. He was the only Steeler to do so. Everyone else stayed in the locker room. That was a brave and patriotic move on Villanueva‘s part!

But wait. Villanueva then had a little private talk with Coach Tomlin. Oops, Villanueva then said at a news conference. I didn’t mean to do that. It was an accident. I should have stayed in the locker room.

One has to wonder what Tomlin said to Villanueva. It had to be threat of some kind.

The NFL is far too addicted to secrets for that.

I have been an Eagles fan since 1960. Roger Goodell, go to hell! No more. I canceled my NFL Sunday Ticket. They are all dead to me: NFL; MLB, NHL, NBA. SCREW THEM AL!!!!

Doesn’t matter. Pro sports is full of winners in sports but losers at life.

Quit watching and refuse to ever watch.

Every passing day makes it more evident that professional sports will not return to any level of prominence in this country. With that in mind, the various state and local governments should be suing NFL, NBA, MLB, etc. in order to collect available cash and retained earnings while there still are some cash and retained earnings to collect.

As this CORONA/COVID crisis goes on, compounded by the collapse of organized sports from strikes, walkoffs, etc and the people in change of organized sports continue to pay off pre-crisis player contracts and other expenses, the money available to allow taxpayers to recover the costs of building and maintaining large facilities that may never see 1/3 searing capacity crowds again, the property will be reduced in value and the taxpayer funded loans will become more difficult to fund.

This isn't like paying off a bloated public pension debt, folks, this is high dollar loans on property that will never be worth what is was years ago. Recover as much as possible as soon as possible.

So what? They are all the same. This guy didn’t skip a practice because it was the right thing to do. He didn’t skip practice so he could gain an edge on the teams that did. Whom does he think he is impressing?

Even our local no-name chronic loser of a college FB team skipped practice yesterday.
Then again, it probably won’t affect their record either way...nothing but a bunch of “look at us” virtue signaling.

First - the NFL is dead to me. However, to be fair, I think the whole locker room thing was an attempt by Tomlin to prevent kneeling from being seen, since Goddell didn’t put a stop to it from the top. I don’t think he likes the whole kneeling thing. So he was upset that someone didn’t do as he requested. Not good, but I think better than a lot of those other virtue signalers.

Here’s what really upsets me about the Tomlin/Villanueva dust-up.

Evidently a large number of Steelers wanted to stay in the locker room during the Nation Anthem. Coach Tomlin was okay with that. Freedom to protest. Blah, blah, blah.

But Villanueva did not want to stay in the locker room. Tomlin was not okay with that. Funny that Villanueva wasn’t given the same freedom of choice the others had.

And no, I don’t buy Villanueva‘s weak excuse that he thought the rest of the team was right behind him. Tomlin pressured Villanueva, and forced him to a make a humiliating public apology.

But like you, the NFL is dead to me. But I still enjoy the women’s beach volleyball videos on YouTube. Let’s hope politics never infiltrates that noble sport.
