Interesting comment on firearms. Is there a treaty or agreement between India and China on this or is it merely an understanding?

I just found this article. Another article said the Chinese carried firearms (but did not use them). This article talks about the rules of engagement set by the Indian government. They have now said that the ROE do not prohibit the use of firearms.

So I guess not an agreement in a treaty - just what each nation set up as their ROE.

To clarify - the Indian ROE have been revised to include the use of firearms if necessary.

It wasn’t until the war in Afghanistan and the various videos that I realized how our ROE limited us. Seeing young adult males carrying stuff wrapped in sheets in an area where are guys are often getting fired upon.

Men going in and out of the area and carrying stuff. But if no actual weapon was visible, they can’t be fired upon.
