All I know is my Bushmaster AR15 does NOT like Wolf coated steel ammo.
I dont know why.
Let me guess, feed/extraction issues?
I’m not surprised at the outcome. My limited experience with steel case ammo + a lot of literature I’ve read leads to one almost intuitive conclusion. Brass, being softer, fire forms to the chamber and in doing so, helps clean any residue left in the chamber from the preceding round. Steel, being harder than brass, allows some fouling of the chamber with each round. Not as big a deal with a slightly tapered charge like a 7.62x39, but with a straight walled case like a 5.56, it becomes more problematic.
My Rock River Arms AR hates Tula. Over several trips to the range I determined the average rounds to an FTE at 63 with it. I’m now lightly mixing it in with brass case ammo in an effort to get rid of it. I’ll never buy it again.
Brass always and forever.
My m&p sport 2 loves it. It’s something like 7,200 rounds in with no problems. I also bore bath it every so often to prevent stuck cases.
All my AKs eat the hell out of it, I’m talking decades. Seen 2 AKs choke ever and both were my fault
