Make a sourdough starter. It is easy. Sourdough bread is much tastier in any case. Takes a week to a week and a half. Depending on the time of year and what yeasties and lactobacillus are in your area you may find a superb starter. My winter starter I started raised like commercial yeast. The early summer one I have going now is slow and has fruity notes (bananna and berry) and serious tang. Check into no knead sourdough bread. 10 minutes of work over two days and you have an $6 loaf of bread. The only specialty thing you need is a cast iron pot with a lid.

I made sourdough oversized hockey pucks, twice. My starter seems to be a non-starter...

Prolly try again in the winter. The only baking I wannea do this time of year is on the grill.
