They are. I used to live next door to one. He had some flowers, and every day after work would pace back and forth, hands behind back, inspecting them. If a leaf looked disturbed, all the kids were lined up and interrogated forever. His wife bit her arm all the time when she was frustrated. One day. He didn’t know I was in the house, he burst in yelling at his wife, cussing, calling her names and was very abusive. When he saw i was there, he shut up and walked out. I felt sorry for her.

To become a psychiatrist or a psychologist, you pretty much *have* to have mental issues. Even they admit it.
I’ve heard many people study psychiatry to figure out their own issues.
I have met a couple of folks who became psychologists who were sane, stable people...but couple means two of many. They also were skeptical of their profession.
This is the same emotional impulse that leads Muslims to beat the woman not wearing hijab or violating other social rules. You aren’t following the dress code and using the language that proves you’re a sacred believer, beat/kill the infidel who just hates and wants to hurt you all.
