“You mean, on an individual basis, or all-customers-wide basis? “

I would imagine either. Frontier control what they bill. Cable companies add a regional sports fee so that they can advertise a low rate but bill you more.

8 years ago spent a wad on a Dell laptop and it had that capability as an extra.

Son ‘borrowed’ it 3 or 4 years ago and all the extras went with it.

Forgot what it was called. If it turns up will let you know.

Sorry. Only 85 now and still need to ‘lern alot’!!!!! :^)

That is a true assessment!!! Getting like a sewer!

Watch Dobbs and sometime Tucker but that is about it.

Every once in awhile will watch an old movie.

I'll cancel my TV/Cable plan if I have to and just go with whatever I can get through OTA and internet.

That's what I did in 2008, except I turned off the TV. Hasn't been turned on since. Don't miss it a bit.

I would have serious boredom problems if forced to give up the Internet.

Do you have high speed interest? There are dozens of IPTV, ones where you can get every cable, premium, movie, sporting event and PPV events for $20 or less a month.

There are even free live TV and movie apps where you can get access to just about anything you can think of like Mobdro and Cinema.

Deny Hollywood, the networks and sports leagues money but cutting the cord.

The regional sports fee only applies if you have certain channels in your lineup, and can’t (won’t) be removed if they’re part of your package. I believe it’s a fee cable companies pay to your local companies to bring the local content.

Frontier’s Custom Essentials has most of the channels your wife would want (HGTV, Freeform, Hallmark, NickJr for the kiddo), and OAN for everyone. None of the sports channels that add in that fee.

More than 3000 channels from the US, UK and Canada. Almost any channel you can think of in the US and local channels in most markets:

Can you “cast” it to your tv via a computer?

I cut the cable back to internet only, after that disastrous season 8 of Game of Thrones, and have not regretted it since!!

I’ve heard of casting from a cell phone, but not from a laptop. But maybe ... will check it out. Thanks for the tip. It will be nice to get rid of our huge satellite bill, and we’ll cut Amazon Prime, too. We got it for fast shipping, but use the TV sometimes, too. But most of what they have costs money now.

The Regional Sports Fee is a fee that you pay on top of your basic TV package deal. This gives you access to locally based sports coverage/channels in your area.

But all television, whether it is cable, internet, or over the airways, is paid for by the sponsors of the products that are advertised on the stations by paying the bills. If their products are not purchased, they have to assume, through their own egos, that it isn’t because of the product, it’s because it isn’t being seen on the telly. When it is no longer profitable, they jerk their sponsorship.

A lot of sports teams have folded for this very reason, lack of sponsorship. Just don’t buy their crap and the sports networks will disappear and take the fee with them. They were started because they were profitable. The door swings both ways. And cable companies are no longer selling feeds to the people, they are producing their own product and are selling it to the sponsors thus having to pay for their own bills if it fails. Not everything lasts forever. Kind of like “My Mother The Car.”

Oh, cancel your cable tomorrow. there are so many options for viewing content YOU want to watch, and you’re not paying BS fees.

So many here on FR will walk you through different apps and what’s good and what’s on what.

An Over The Air antenna is also necessary.

And you will be sorry you didn’t do it sooner.

Well, don’t watch.

Personally, watch on a 27” Viewsonic. Do not always watch full screen. DSL service when watching is usually crowded.

Take care........pilgrim

“Do you have Windows 10?”

Not only, “No”, but “Hell, no!”

“Think I am the only one now days still with 7.”

You’re not the only one. (Out of my cold, dead hands.) ;)

But my hubby has Win 10 so I’ll check it out on his laptop. Thank you!

LOL!! Knew there was some reason I ‘liked’ you! :^)

A couple of links for work arounds for Windows 7.

A poster mentions Teamviewer, at the fifth post, not acquainted with it.

https://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/how-to-do-screen-mirroring-with-smart-tv-with-windows-7/

And through a router if you have one, wired or wireless.

https://mywindowshub.com/stream-videos-from-windows-7-pc-to-tv/

And finally a search with DuckDuckGo for casting.

https://duckduckgo.com/cast streaming from pc windows 7 to TV

Hope this ‘heps’.

Take care........pilgrim
