Why do so many still die from cancer?

Let's say they cured cancer tomorrow. A multibillion dollar a year industry and hundreds of thousands if not more jobs would disappear overnight. Professional fundraisers who make fortunes appealing to our good will and desire for a cure would have to find another way to make a buck off of other people's sorrow. Not going to happen.

I know, I'm cynical but this is the world we live in now.

No you must be right because I’ve been reading about cures for cancer since I was a kid back in 1975

I want to know how Ruth bader Ginsburg is alive with pancreatic cancer. That’s like an unbeatable cancer

You’re spot on about a cancer cure. Everything is incentivized to keep fundraising and treatment on the treadmill. Sam old, same old. A “cure” would see all of that come crashing down.

Some young, hot shot naive researchers that aren’t in the big pharma game experimenting in their basement will eventually kick the money bucket over. I believe cures already exist.

Cancer isn't one disease with one cause.

To believe what you are saying is true is to believe that millions of people over the years, everyone involved in the research, treatment and care are heartless ghouls who care only for money.

No one has spent their lives and careers fighting it.

A conspiracy so vast as to be unimaginable...and nobody's said a word. Many cancers, that were a death sentence 20, 50 years ago are being cured or put into remission.

Yes, but how will we get those lovely daffodils for $1 or so? ;)

Or, cells mutate for environmental or genetic reasons.

Everything is not a conspiracy. Sometime the cosmic rays just hit things the wrong way.

Cancer is a very smart disease in that it mutates. Cure one form of it and it will mutate so you’re back to square one.

I have a close family member that is a cancer research scientist and I can assure you, they are trying very hard to cure cancer and they are nearly there, through gene therapy. I see people saying cancer isn’t cured because of money hungry industry and it just isn’t true.
