On June 11, the band announced it was dropping the name Antebellum from its name after reflecting on the Black Lives Matter movement and in an effort to be more inclusive. Attorneys for Lady A, formerly known as Lady Antebellum, have filed a suit against blues singer Anita White who goes by the name Lady A.

So to appease BLM Marxist the are suing a poor black lady who has used Lady A for a long time. Real smooth. I never cared for Lady Antebellum, and I care even less now.

I never heard of either of them - but from the facts presented, this is a ridiculous suit.

Lady A is already taken. So I wish Lady Antebellum would have checked with me first. I would have suggested a name change to Lady Ass.
Then this whole mess could have been avoided.

A good way to stir the class warfare pot too. I can afford lawyers and trademarks and you can’t. Seems like a lot of over reach on the “country” music band’s part.
They have a lousy lawyer to say the least. That woman has been going by Lady A for a long time.
I’m not sure what their novel legal theory is, but she has used the name professionally for so long their suit should be dismissed with prejudice and 100x punitive damages.

Lady Antebellum’s lawyers apparently trademarked the new name years ago, while Lady A the blues singer’s lawyers did not.
Legally the three white fashion victims probably can win this one. Ethically, they’re making themselves look like real tools.
They got too cautious, and she got too greedy.
What a sticky wicket.
You allow one person to knowingly get away with it and your legal protection is weakened.
So, as to not offend anybody’s delicate sensibilities, they’re taking the word Antebellum out of their name and shortening it just a lady a, and then attempting to steal the name from a black singer? They need to check their white privilege. They’re sending mixed messages to their new BLM overlords.
