I don't know if anyone else is running into this problem, but in the last week or so I'm having trouble getting any of the Chromium browsers, whether it be Google Chrome or any other variant, to work properly.
Specifically, when I try to link to articles from another website, or I try to get into a website, let's say for instance Dan Bogino's website, I keep getting a Cloudfare error that says I'm not allowed to access it. YET, I can access that same website from a Mozilla browser, such as the one I'm using now, Palemoon. I'm also getting errors saying the website is unavailable, yet, a Mozilla browser picks it up just fine. And this problem persists whether I'm running Windows 7 or 10.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the different Chromium browsers to no avail. This is maddening, but I can't seem to find anything online that addresses the problem specifically, so I decided to try here and see if any fellow Freepers have run into this, and if so how did you fix it.
Forget Chrome and switch to Firefox by Mozilla. Avoid Google products.
I have encountered the same phenomenon. Chrome is Google so I suspect it is a censorship thing. I have stopped using Chrome. Brave is experiencing that sometimes. I hate to go back to Firefox but it seems necessary as my Sea Monkey has not been updated in a while and everybody is detaching from it bit by bit.
Palemoon.
Well, I’m about ready to. If Netflix has an app I can use on my home PC instead of accessing it via the web browser, Chrome may be going away permanently.
That’s what I’m using right now!
Mozila Firefox is far left as well.
Will we need to have a ‘conservative’ browser as well?
I thought Brave would do the trick, but they are built on the Google Chrome engine.
Is there an alternative?
If Google and Mozilla turn off Parler, etc, we’re cooked.
I will investigate.
Palemoon says their browser is “forked off Firefox/Mozilla”.
Does that mean that Mozilla censorship would impact Palemoon?
That being said, if the Chromium browsers themselves are going to start censoring things, and if Firefox follows suit, the only recourse we'll have are browsers like Palemoon unless someone has a more viable option.
Who is behind Palemoon?
Microsoft Edge has been rewritten in Chromium.
You can get it here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge?form=MY01BL&OCID=MY01BL
I’m using it, and I can get to https://bongino.com/ just fine, no errors or alerts.
Palemoon has forked so far off Firefox/Mozilla that it is its own product.
How about an onion browser like Tor?
Microsoft techs openly mock Edge. They stick with Chrome.
The only chromium based brower I use is SRWare Iron, and then only rarely. Just checked it and had no problems displaying the Bongino site.
I tried that once many moons ago, didn’t like it, HOWEVER, I might be giving it another shot. Thought about even trying Maxthon again.
I ran across that website here lately. I’ll check it out.
