The small number of people who have had permanent damage is similar to the number of people who have had significant damage from other serious lung-affecting flus, and a lot less than the number of people who got permanent damage from small pox or Lyme Disease.

It is a crime for those panic-mongers to suggest that such damage is to be routine expected.

I had a bad, bad cold (maybe it was flu, who knows) once where I had inflammation of the outer heart muscle that tired me, a very, very irritated spot in the throat from coughing that itself made me cough more, lingering lung inflammation, diminished taste and smell, and a scratching rough patch on my eye.

It all went away by the start of spring.

None of that laid me up as much as what happened to me the year earlier when I bruised the tendon on my big toe.

Getting the cold and the incident that caused the toe injury occurred the same month of the year, but it was well into summer before I could take a decent walk for exercise and to regain my general strength that was diminished from not being able to walk as much and as quickly as one should in order to keep healthy.

well this virus does affect organs- even in healthy people- most will however recover just fine- likely- but always a good idea to have tests if one gets this virus, or any flu rally that knocks the stuffings out of someone- There was a fella on last night- major baseball coach or something- young dude- no underlying health conditions- and was floored for over a month because of this crap- (Most of course won’t get it to that extent- but some will-)

[[It is a crime for those panic-mongers to suggest that such damage is to be routine expected.]]

I don’t see folks saying it is ‘routinely expected’, just that this virus is a nasty virus- and some wonder if there would be long term damage- which is understandable- since it affects so many organs- or rather since it could-

For instance, this virus affects kidneys- and could and likely does cause kidney damage, and kidneys don’t heal when they are damaged- so that would be one instance of long term damage which people should be aware of-

This isn’t ‘panic mongering’- this is fact gathering- so folks will know what to look for so they can get treated before serious issues develop- blood clots are caused by this virus- which can and do cause damage too- but there are effective medicines one can take to combat them- and folks should talk to their docs about things like that if they get this stinking virus-
