Amid growing pressure from Native American groups, sponsors, and even the city's mayor, the Washington Redskins have announced they will conduct a 'thorough review' of the team's name, which is considered by many to be offensive. 'In light of recent events around our country and feedback from our community, the Washington Redskins are announcing the team will undergo a thorough review of the team's name,' read the statement. 'This review formalizes the initial discussions the team has been having with the league in recent weeks.' Friday's statement came after the team received a formal name-change request from FedEx, which was ostensibly using its leverage as the title sponsor of the Redskins' stadium in Landover, Maryland to persuade franchise owner Daniel Snyder.

simple solution: Dan Snyder, move the team to a state named after Indians.
This could be just a delay tactic. The review will take some time. Snyder is not interested in the least bit in changing it. This could just be a step that leads to nowhere in the hope that the woke backlash and a Trump reelection end things. We need to fight for this name
Few actual Irish, Scottish or Welsh descendants on the Celtics and few descendants of Norwegians, Danes and Swedes on the Vikings.
This another example that the left never quits and, in the long run, they never lose. This has been going on for years. The Redskins fought them off every time. The crazies will win this time.
How about the No Gonads? If it was my team, I would dissolve it and tell DC to support the Ravens or Eagles.
Bump
--tremendous Skins fans support of retaining the name.
-- little Native American objection.
-- that removing the Redskins name further erases the great traditions of Native Americans well beyond sports, which will continue until no one remembers NA heritage at all.
--substantial financial harm, for which the league or sponsor FEDEX will be sued.
--FEDEX chair Fred Smith deserves an invitation to sell his minority stake.
--we are not willing to stand up to those who falsely degrade our nation and history.
--objections come almost exclusively from PC DC non-fan residents.
Screw 'em. Take it to court armed with results of the deep review. This is America. Snyder can do what he wants, people can refuse to patronize the Redskins.
What the hell has happened to Fred Smith, ex-marine, who once appeared to fight up and stand for freedom. I suspect his board room is becoming filled with millenials,
F’dEx.
I’ll be avoiding using F’dEx from now on.
Taking away their ways of making money and shaming them to do what they want. I hope they don’t give into this crap.
Landover lunatics.
Na! I’m going for the Washington Vermilion Epidermis.

Yep signals approaching surrender to the cancel monkeys
not the waaay out there activists. In the 1960s the kook activists would have been some smelly hippie with a liberated mimeograph machine distributing leaflets. Now they all have a Delaware corporation nonprofit a slick website and a cut of the funding they divert to vote blue.

Gotta change the city name too. Maybe they can repurposee the logo and keep the name also.
The logo would be a washing device that can wash a ton of redskinned potatoes at a time..
They would be washing a ton of redskins....no?
Too much alcohol...thc...opiates...ssri....hormones..in the populaces bloodstreams.
Nike has nothing to crow about since they use what is tantamount to slave labor to produce their crappy footwear.
